This year CanCon was hosted in Halifax, the first time a subchapter has hosted CanCon! Cat and Zoe represented JETAA Ottawa and Shuaib led the programming as the JETAA Canada Rep. We were joined by JETAA representatives from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, the US, as well as the Vice-Chair of JETAA International and CLAIR representatives.
The conference opened Saturday morning with a collaborative ikebana workshop led by the owners of the ikebana shop in Halifax! Following chapter reports, we began our presentations and workshops, centred around the theme of Modernization, Outreach and The Future. We discussed engaging our members across different platforms, brainstorming new cross-chapter collaborations and events, modernizing processes, and different uses of AI to assist board members in their work.
CanCon was a wonderful opportunity for us to meet and discuss with other JETAA members across Canada and North America. We want to commend the JETAA Atlantic subchapter for taking on the challenge of hosting CanCon and thank them for the opportunity to meet Atlantic JETs, highlighting that JETs can be found all across Canada.
