Kingston Boat Cruise + Fort Henry

Hello JETAA members in Ontario and Quebec! We’re having our 2nd annual Kingston Ontario inter-chapter event on Saturday, Sept. 16th, and we would love for you to come out!

This is a joint initiative between JETAA Ottawa, Toronto, and JETAA Quebec Atlantique, with the goal of bringing our chapters closer together, and giving the opportunity to JETs alums from Ontario and Quebec to meet-up and network in a central location!

We have a tentative schedule as follows:

11:30: Meet at the Kingston waterfront!
12:00pm: Board the BOAT for the BOAT CRUISE!
12:30-3:30pm: Cruise the Thousand Islands in paddle-wheeler style
3:30: Head to the historic Fort Henry for dinner on the battlements
After that: Whatever the night brings (There may be a non-officially sanctioned Air B&B - Contact your chapter head for more details (Brandon Wallace - JETAA Ottawa, Clarissa Marie - Toronto, Ugo Jose Lachapelle - Montreal)

Cost: The boat cruise will be $31.40/person if we can get at least 20 people. If we are less than 20, it will be $40/person. Last year we exceeded 20 people. Let's go for gold again this year! Natsu-Matsuri

Festival Schedule

Celebrate summer and Japanese culture with us! The Natsu-Matsuri is a summer festival held throughout Japan, and we're organizing one in the heart of Ottawa!

Come and enjoy some food, watch performers such as dancers, musicians and martial-artists, and discover Japanese culture with our many exhibitor booths.

Hanami & Sushi Picnic


Date: Saturday, May 20th, 2017
Time: Noon
Meeting spot: Dunton Tower on the Carleton University campus (directions)

Join us in enjoying the Japanese tradition of having a picnic under the beautiful blossoming trees during spring! Everyone is welcome, including friends and family of JET alumni.

The picnic will be in the arboretum, a large 26 hector park, located between Prince of Wales Drive and the Rideau Canal, with a lot of open space. It has over 1,700 of different kinds of shrubs and trees from all over the world – including the famous Japanese cherry blossom trees! We will meet at the Carleton University campus at Dunton Tower and then walk over to the Hanami Picnic area.

This is a bring-your-own-food/drinks event, but we are also taking orders for Sushi Fresh!

To order sushi:

Note: Tax is not included in these prices, so please factor that in when you make your order.

2) When you RSVP to the Hanami Picnic, there will be a space to enter your order.

3) Bring your payment to the Hanami Picnic. We will have your sushi ready for you!

Japanese Cooking Class

JETAA Ottawa will be holding our annual Japanese Cooking Class! This year we will be making delicious Okonomiyaki (Japanese ‘savoury pancake’/omelette), and matcha (green tea) flavoured ice cream!

This event is FREE and open to the PUBLIC. Registration is required! Participation is limited and first-come first-serve, so be sure to sign up now!

Board Game Night

Saturday, March 25th

14 Waller St, 2nd floor
Cost: $5.50/person 'Stay and Play' fee

Come join us for a fun afternoon of games, food and drink. Last year's event was a blast and we're hoping to have just as much fun this year. Don't worry if you don't know any games, as the staff are great at explaining everything. Just show up at 3pm at 14 Waller Street and head upstairs.

You can also order food and drinks. Check out the The Loft website (http://www.theloftlounge.ca/) to see their menu and to get an idea of the games available (basically everything)
